This article provides various methods to utilize the 'Copy in Place' feature to seamlessly roll over a workpaper to the next year’s binder.

Option 1: Custom Firm Record Template with 'Copy in Place' Enabled

If you have created a custom worksheet as a firm record template, you can use the 'Copy in Place' feature to easily roll it over to the new year’s binder. This option requires setting up the custom worksheet at a firm level in advance and inserting it into a binder with the rollover option ticked in the record detail screen. The attached video walks you through the full process of rolling over the sheet using 'Copy in Place.'

Option 2: Copy in Place for Custom Sheets Inserted Directly into a Binder

If the custom sheet wasn’t set up as a firm record template and was instead manually added/dragged into the Excel binder, you can still use 'Copy in Place' to roll it over. Simply follow these steps:

  1. Click Add Record in the side pane.

  2. Select Link to Existing Sheet to link your custom excel worksheet to a record in the side pane.

  3. Tick the rollover option in the record detail screen to ensure the custom sheet is rolled forward to the next year’s binder.

  4. When the binder is rolled forward, it will 'copy this sheet in place'.

Option 3: Copy in Place for Provided Record Templates (Without Default Enablement)

Some of our default workpapers we provide may not have 'Copy in Place' enabled by default for various reasons. If you are using one of our workpapers, you can duplicate and/or customize it and create your own custom firm template, similar to the process outlined in Option 1. By doing this, you can ensure that 'Copy in Place' is enabled for the custom firm template when it is inserted into a binder and rolled over to the next year’s binder.
