If you are installing the add-in in a non-terminal server environment, please refer to Smart Workpaper Add-In Installation.

If you wish to deploy the add-in for all users in a terminal server environment, please refer to: Deploying the Smart Workpaper Add-in for all Users in a Terminal Server.

Step 1: Download and run the installer

Download the latest terminal server setup file by clicking here. Once downloaded, run the setup file to register the Smart Workpapers COM add-in for all users. This will successfully install the one out of two components of the Smart workpapers add-in.

Note: The default installation location for Smart Workpapers is:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Business Fitness\HowNow Smart Workpapers

Step 2: Create login script to automate XLL add-in registration

Why is this needed?

Excel requires XLL add-ins to be registered per user. Automating this process ensures consistency across all users in the terminal server environment..

Steps to automate registration:

You can register this manually by running the command below once for each user, however in terminal server environments our recommendation is to add the following line to all user's login scripts:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Business Fitness\HowNow Smart Workpapers\adxregistrator.exe" /install="Workpapers.Next.Addin.dll" /privileges=user

Step 3: Confirmation

Verifying installation:

  1. After a user logs in, confirm that the command above ran successfully.

  2. Open Excel on the User's session and navigate to File → Options → Add-ins.

  3. Verify that both the Smart workpaper Add-in Components (i.e. COM and Excel add-ins) are enabled and visible in the Active Application Add-ins section as shown in the screenshot below.

Note: The displayed version number (e.g., 2.2.0.16) in this guide is only an example and may differ from the current version.
