**IMPORTANT: Follow this help article only If this issue appears on a standalone workstation whilst other workstations are working fine.

​Issue: Hownow appears to be half-opened/the UI appears distorted. Furthermore, closing HowNow results in the following error message: "Runtime error 216 at 00409E1E." or "Runtime error 217"

Cause: The Firebird service is not installed or running properly.

Resolution:

**Check whether Firebird is installed and running on this workstation. If it is, please uninstall it before proceeding with the steps below:

1. On the affected workstation, navigate to the installation folder (Right-click on the Hownow desktop icon > Properties > Open File Location).

2. Locate and run the "FB3Setup.exe" executable file.

3. Follow the onscreen prompts to complete the installation.

Restart HowNow, and the issue should be resolved.
