Overview: Keyboard shortcuts provide quick access to frequently used HowNow functions, allowing for faster navigation and task completion by using key combinations instead of mouse clicks.
General Navigation
You can navigate between the main tabs of HowNow using keyboard shortcuts. Press the Alt
key followed by the corresponding letter for the tab you wish to access.
Knowledge Tab:
Alt+K
Records Tab:
Alt+R
Note: Press the Alt
key again to clear the ribbon shortcut key indicators.
Shortcuts Available in All HowNow Areas
These shortcuts can be used across most sections of HowNow:
Show Search History:
F4
Use when the cursor is in any search box to display the search text history list.
Select All Search Results:
Ctrl+A
Deselect All Search Results:
Ctrl+D
Contacts Tab Shortcuts
The following shortcuts are available when working within the Contacts tab:
Email Contact:
F7
This is equivalent to right-clicking on a contact and selecting "Email". It populates the email with the selected contact's email address.
Create File Note for Contact:
F9
This is equivalent to right-clicking on a contact and selecting "File Note". It populates the file note with the selected contact's name.
Knowledge Tab Shortcuts
Use these shortcuts when managing content in the Knowledge tab:

Paste File:
Ctrl+V
Copies a file from your clipboard and opens the filing wizard in HowNow.
Email As Shortcuts (Knowledge)
When you want to email content from the Knowledge tab, use Ctrl+E
followed by one of the keys below:

Email Document/Contact:

This is equivalent to right-clicking and selecting "Email". It populates the email with the selected contact's email address. If a document is selected, it will also be attached to the email.
Create File Note for Contact:
F9
This is equivalent to right-clicking on a contact (or a record associated with a contact) and selecting "File Note". It populates the file note with the selected contact's name.

Change Record Status:

Jobs and Tasks Shortcuts (Workflow Module)
These shortcuts are available in the Jobs and Tasks tabs if the optional Workflow Module is installed:
General Jobs and Tasks Shortcuts
Complete Job/Task or Insert Timestamp:
F3
In the Jobs or Tasks tabs, this is equivalent to right-clicking and selecting "Complete".
When your cursor is in any notes field within a Job or Task, pressing
F3
inserts the current date and time.
Job and Task Status Shortcuts
Change Job/Task Status: `Ctrl+1`, `Ctrl+2`, etc.
Press
Ctrl
plus the number corresponding to the desired status in the order they appear in the status list.
